We all know Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, right? Natural selection? But what about his lesser-know theory of evolution: sexual selection. Let’s talk about how animals like peacocks, whose eye-catching physical traits make them evolutionarily stronger even though their flashy looks make them more vulnerable to predators. Hint: it’s all about the chemistry.

"didnt even need to talk to Houston" - he literally couldn't 😅 im sure now if someone did a moon mission again they'd maintain a direct line (even if landing on the far side of the moon) by just bouncing off some lunar satellites

    A. I. has been around for decades and yes, creatives use it to collaborate work. The very software used to compile pictures and UA-cam videos is full of it. As far as creativity, it all depends on the quality of data fed to the large language models. Humans control this. Even those autopilot driving applications. So until star-net takes over all of our smart sensors and can direct our machines to independently gather data to answer it’s own questions … I think humans will still be more creative.

Cicadas are so weird, like, it’s so cool how they have the internal clocks and all that. But then they finally emerge and I watch one fly headfirst into a table, fall down, and die. Or I watch fly straight into the ground, flip over, and die. How do these things survive

so they have microscopically small hair an their feet and with them they exert van der waals forces thus creating a dipole in the atoms of their feet as they do in the atoms of the surface and therefore they stick. Did I summarize this correclty?

I always kind of felt sorry for the command module pilots on the Apollo missions. They had to sit there in lunar orbit while the other two got to land on the moon. It seemed a bit unfair, though I understand why they needed someone to stay with the command module.

soooooo youre saying listening to audiobooks is NOT reading. Got it...Ohh wait, does that also mean that reading to yourself vs reading out loud are also handled differently neurologically, considering when we read out loud we sound out every syllable of every word chronologically?

Just to add to the method in which they can tell how long it's been and when to come up, another video suggested that it was based on the indications given by the trees and plant life they bury themselves under. With each passing day the plants cycle through certain stages and based on the amount of times that cycle has occurred, they're able to dictate how long it's been. Once again i got this from another yt short so take it with a grain of salt.

I remember listening to a different science channel, and the best scientists can figure out so far is that the cicadas are able to figure out how a year has passed by is due to their food source of tree... It's not quite sap but something similar.

If I remember correctly, SciShow did a bit on how these broods know when to come up from their larval stage. The cicadas measure the time using the trees they eat from. They measure the growth cycles from the roots.
